The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office is investigating a home invasion robbery on Tuesday night that left one person injured.

According to the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office, two men entered a home on the 5300 block of Hidden Valley Court at approximately 11:17 p.m. The neighborhood is in an unincorporated area of Tarrant County south of Fort Worth and north of Burleson, according to Lt. Jennifer Gabbert.

The victims are a father and son who were zip-tied and held at gunpoint, Lt. Gabbert said.

"The son was able to break free from the zip-ties and a struggle ensued with one of the robbers at that time. Gunfire occurred," Gabbert told NBC 5. "His father heard that, was able to break free from his zip-ties from another room and return fire at the robbers who fled the scene at that time."

Officials said the intruders took firearms, a watch, and two wallets.

Maria Munoz lives behind Hidden Valley Court and recalls hearing five gunshots on Tuesday night.

"It sounded pretty loud. I mean just hearing five shots is what got me, because it sounds like someone is shooting someone," Munoz said. "In the country, we’re used to hearing fireworks and gunshots and stuff, but this was pretty odd."

Munoz said she checked her home security cameras after hearing the loud commotion and spotted a 'red, older' car speeding away on the dirt road between her property and Hidden Valley.

"I haven’t been here too long, but it’s very calm out here. I mean, there’s time we’re out here until late and we’ve never seen anything like this, so it’s very disturbing for us," she said.

Gabbert said the suspects were wearing light-colored hoodies, dark-colored pants, masks, and gloves at the time of the incident. The son was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

"We don’t know the relationship between the suspects and the family at this time," she said. "If people have home video, ring cameras, security cameras from within their home, particularly one that picks up good visuals and have well light camera photos, that is fantastic."
