NBC 5 Forecast: Coldest air of the season is here

Cold Weather Advisory is in effect through Tuesday

NBC Universal, Inc.

A Cold Weather Advisory will remain in effect through 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. More sunshine is expected for most of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, but that sunshine won't provide much warmth, with highs only climbing into the 30s.

Clouds will return by late afternoon, setting up the potential for some wintry precipitation. The most likely scenario is a few snow flurries across DFW Monday night, ending before sunrise Tuesday morning. While little to no accumulation is expected in the DFW area, snow will be heavier farther south. Road conditions may become snow-packed between Austin, Waco, College Station, and Houston.

Sunny skies will make a reappearance Tuesday, and will continue the rest of the week. That will bring a gradual warming trend, with high temperatures back in the 50s and even 60s by the end of the week.
