The Cowtown Marathon celebrated its 40th anniversary this weekend and the weather was much better for the longer races Sunday after delays during Saturday's races.
“It was a little unnerving this morning. We plan all year long for this event and one thing you can’t control is the weather,” said Rich Harshbarger, a volunteer.
Some runners were worried the races would be cancelled.

“I would have been really mad because we trained for this during track practice, and it would have been upsetting not being able to run,” said 8th grader, Aiden Spires.
Organizers said all along the races would go on rain or shine, but could be delayed by lightning or severe weather.
Saturday's 10K was delayed by an hour, and the Kids 5K was pushed back by nearly two hours. Runners sought shelter at the Will Rogers Memorial Center but stuck around to race across the finish line.
“Hopefully next year we won’t have to stack up on jackets, and we can wear t-shirts and shorts to run,” said Spires.
