Wildfires Torch More Than a Dozen Acres in Oklahoma City

Firefighters are working to contain a grass fire that has consumed at least 15 acres in Oklahoma City.

Crews were called to the wooded area at about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The fire has devoured cedar trees, which are adding more fuel to the flames.

Strong winds and dry conditions are also fueling the blaze, which crews are trying to stop from crossing a paved road.

Officials say there are homes that could be threatened if the fire manages to jump the road.

Troopers are letting traffic travel through the area when they are able, but keep having to close the interstate because of the heavy smoke.

Drivers in the area are being encouraged to use caution.
