A tornado touched down in Lamar County on Tuesday afternoon, law enforcement officials confirmed.
The brief touchdown destroyed some small structures and damaged a barn in Brookston, near Paris, at about 4:15 p.m.
Lamar County Sheriff B.J. McCoy said the tornado lifted a barn about 20 feet before smashing it and tossed a firefighter into a ditch without injuring him.
No injuries were reported.
A storm spotter told the National Weather Service that a twister flipped trailers and damaged roofs just north of Clarksville, about 120 miles northeast of Dallas. A Red River County sheriff's dispatcher said there were no reports of injuries, though.
The windstorms were part of a line of severe thunderstorms that formed along a cold front Tuesday afternoon. The storms formed around Gainesville and increased in intensity.
Golf ball-sized to baseball-sized hail was reported in the storms.
