Straight-Line Winds Damage Homes in The Colony

At least two dozen homes in The Colony were damaged on Wednesday morning.

According to a city spokesman, the worst damage is clustered in an area in the northeastern and eastern sections of The Colony.

"It sounded like a train coming through our house," said storm victim Elizabeth Shirley. "When we came out, we had water everywhere."

Along Arbor Glen Road, the storm peeled off roofs, took down trees and blew away fences.

"Thank God everybody is OK, but other people got hit really bad," said storm victim Bernardette Schaffer. "I didn't hear alarms. I didn't hear sirens."

The Colony police said it appears straight-line winds are to blame.

No injuries were reported.
