Widespread rain and thunderstorms rolled through North Texas as a potent storm system moved through North Texas the day after Christmas. Showers and storms moved out of the Dallas-Fort Worth area overnight.
A squall line blew through North Texas between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., with heavy rain and a few wind gusts over 50 mph. Between noon and midnight, 1 to 3 inches of rain fell, with some isolated locations seeing even higher amounts.

A Tornado Watch for much of North Texas expired at 10 p.m. but continued until 4 a.m. for counties south and east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area: Anderson, Freestone, Henderson, Kaufman, Navarro, Rains and Van Zandt counties.
A Flood Warning continued for Collin, Dallas, Denton, Hunt, Red River and Rockwall counties.
Flights arriving at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport were held at their origin cities or delayed by more than one hour on average, airport officials said. Flights departing DFW were delayed 90 minutes or longer Wednesday evening.
