Storm Damage Expected to Hit Tens of Millions of Dollars

Damage estimate expected to climb

Early estimates of insured losses from Tuesday’s severe storms and tornadoes are expected to top tens of millions of dollars, according to The Insurance Council of Texas.

The National Weather Service said as many as 12 tornadoes touched down Tuesday and, according to preliminary estimates, have damaged more than 800 homes in Arlington, Lancaster and Forney.

Aside from those impacted by the twisters, an untold number of North Texans may have suffered hail damage to cars and homes as stones ranging in size from ping pong ball- to baseball-sized fell across the Metroplex.

As more reports of damage are received through the remainder of the week, the damage estimate is expected to climb.

More detailed damage reports are expected to be received from Arlington, Forney and Lancaster throughout the day Wednesday, as well as through the remainder of the week.
