Officials identified him as 53-year-old Anthony Rex of McKinney.

He was found dead inside the red Chevrolet Corvette on a small private road near Zinger Bat Ballpark, according to Lt. Lonny Haschel with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Rex was driving south on the private drive and entering a parking lot when the large tree broke in half and fell on his car, Haschel said.

Rex died at the scene.

He leaves behind a 12-year-old son and fiance.

On Friday a small memorial was set up outside the ballpark as mourners gathered to pay their respects.

"We will miss you Coach Tony," one player wrote on a baseball.

Rex was well-known in the McKinney youth baseball community. He was a former coach and proud supporter of his son's team.

There was severe weather in the area at the time the tree fell. DPS troopers were working with the Collin County Sheriff's Department in the investigation.
