Lake Levels After Recent Rains

Recent rains did not erase the drought in North Texas, but it certainly helped.

The updated drought map, released on Thursday, still shows a moderate to severe drought across much of the region.

The annual rainfall for DFW Airport now stands at 7.40 inches, which is 2.94 inches above normal. The drought forecast is for improvement. If current trends continue the drought will be erased. More rain is forecast this week.

The rain did help our local lakes. Most North Texas lakes are at or slightly above conservation level. Here is the departure from normal:
