Fort Worth Unanimously Passes Water Restrictions Plan

Twice-a-week watering restrictions for Fort Worth residents will become permanent, after the City Council passed the measure by a vote of 7-0 Tuesday night.

Council members have had a week to think it over after delaying a decision at the last council meeting. Many homeowners showed up to the meeting to express their frustration over the proposed new ordinance.

The ordinance will limit watering to two specific days each week depending if an address is an odd or even number. Those days are locked in — either Wednesday and Saturday, or Thursday and Sunday.

Many residents asked for more flexibility in choosing their two days of the week for watering. Others asked how the new ordinance would be enforced. Some council members questioned if it’s an unfair burden on homes without automatic sprinklers.
