Truck Driver Killed in Crash On I-20 Near Millsap

DPS officials say the driver may have fallen asleep

A fatal semi crash south of Millsap may have been due to the driver of the rig falling asleep, DPS spokesman Lonnie Haschel said Friday morning.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday.

The semi was hauling produce eastbound along Interstate 20 at Farm-to-Market Road 113 when the rig drove off the road, and down the embankment into FM113.

The trailer then caught on fire, destroying much of the trailer and its cargo, Haschel said.

Traffic was stopped briefly on I-20. FM 113 will remain closed into the afternoon, DPS officials on the scene said.

No other vehicles were involved.
