Crashed truck caught fire, damaged poles

Emergency crews in Collin County say a truck caught fire near State Highway 121 and Coit Road in Plano.

The truck, a partially-loaded rock hauler, crashed through light poles, traffic signals and other roadside signs before overturning and catching fire.

Plano police said the preliminary investigation showed a sport utility vehicle traveling southbound on Coit Road collided with the rock hauler traveling northbound on the service road next to the Sam Rayburn Tollway.

The truck driver was taken to Parkland Hospital by Careflite with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Coit Road and other streets in the area were blocked as emergency crews try to fix the damage from the crash.
