If you're new to North Texas, the first thing you probably noticed is the number of ways we refer to our roads. By, name or number of both.
It's not simply The 5 or The 405, in true Texas fashion we name our roads after some of our favorite politicians, leaders, a great Dallas Cowboys coach and an American Sniper.
North Texas has two mixmasters: The Fort Worth mixmaster connects Interstate 30 to Interstate 35W (North Freeway) and the Dallas mixmaster, or Horseshoe, connects I-30 to Interstate 35E.

Spur 366, which connects Interstate 35E to Interstate 45 and U.S. 75, is more commonly known as Woodall Rodgers, a former mayor of Dallas.

Loop 12, a circular road around Dallas, is one of North Texas' more confusing roads due to its five names, including Walton Walker, Northwest Highway and others.

- Margaret McDermott Bridge along I-30 connecting the east and west levee of the Trinity River, west of downtown Dallas.
- Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge along Spur 366 connecting the east and west levee of the Trinity River, west of downtown Dallas.
The High 5 is a five-level interchange, as tall as a 12-story building, in Dallas designed to connect Interstate 635 to U.S. 75.
- The High Five is the interchange at the LBJ Freeway (I-635) and Central Expressway (U.S. 75).
- The Mixmaster/The Horseshoe is the name of the interchange of I-30 and I-35E in downtown Dallas.
All numbered highways are also simply known by their number. Ex: "Take 20 to 360 north ..." except for Loop 12, which is always referred to as Loop 12.
