One Dead After Pileup Along I-30 in Rockwall

Police said weather may have played a role in a deadly vehicle pile-up along Interstate 30 in Rockwall county on Saturday night.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on I-30 near Horizon Road. Officers said the wrecks involved a collision between several 18-wheelers and passenger cars.

In one case, a truck crossed through the concrete divider from the westbound into the eastbound lanes of traffic.

Police said one person died and other drivers were transported to hospitals for treatment.

For hours, eastbound I-30 was closed at Dalrock Road but the highway reopened by 10:00 p.m.

The identities of the drivers has not been made public.

Rockwall police is still investigating the cause but weather may have played a role. Heavy storms had just come through Dallas county minutes before the wreck.
