Northbound Loop 12 in Irving Reopens After 18-Wheeler Hits Overpass

It happened Monday afternoon on northbound Loop 12 at Irving Blvd

Part of Loop 12 in Irving is open again after an 18-wheeler struck an overpass, police said.

It happened Monday afternoon at about 3:40 p.m. on northbound Loop 12 at Irving Boulevard. The highway reopened around 7:30 p.m.

Officials said huge pieces of the truck slammed onto the roadway, causing several large gouges in the pavement that needed repair.

All traffic was diverted onto the service road. The southbound lanes were also impacted, with one lane partially blocked. Police urged drivers to take alternate routes along Interstate 35E, Belt Line Road and the President George W. Bush Turnpike.

It has not been determined if the overpass was damaged. No injuries were reported.
