‘Chicken Parts' Cause Crash Involving Two 18-Wheelers on Interstate 35E

Authorities said chicken parts caused a multi-vehicle crash involving two 18-wheelers that shut down Interstate 35E for hours Tuesday morning.

Dallas County Sheriff's deputies said the two trucks, a Ford Mustang and a Honda were involved in the collision on northbound I-35E near Reunion Boulevard at about 2:15 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators said the crash was caused by "biological matter" on the road — later determined to be chicken parts — that were spilled by another 18-wheeler earlier.

Sheriff's deputies said they are still investigating the crash and the whereabouts of the truck that lost the chicken.

Authorities closed I-35E while Texas Department of Transportation crews cleans the highway. As of 9:45 a.m., only the left lane was open. The remaining lanes were reopened shortly after.
