Flames Soar From 18-Wheeler on I-20 in Southwestern Dallas County

The wreckage was still smoldering by 9 a.m., more than three hours after the fire was first responded

An 18-wheeler is burning along Interstate 20 in southwestern Dallas County Thursday morning.

The fire was reported shortly before 6 a.m. along westbound I-20, just east of Spur 408. By 9:30 a.m. two lanes of westbound I-20 were open to traffic, but significant traffic delays remained.

Video from Texas Sky Ranger showed flames shooting from the trailer of the big rig. On several occasions the fire appeared to reignite, eventually consuming the entire truck and cab.

It's not clear what caused the fire or whether any injuries have been reported, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said.

Evans said it wasn't clear what was being hauled in the truck.
