Fiery Crash Shuts Down Tollway Ramps

The accident happened at about 12:30 a.m.

A tanker truck accident shut down the ramps to the northbound Dallas North Tollway early Friday morning.

A truck carrying fuel was exiting the northbound Dallas North Tollway to go eastbound on the President George Bush Turnpike when he hit a barrier on the ramp, crashed and burst into flames shortly after midnight according to the Department of Public Safety.

The driver of the 18-wheeler died in the accident according to DPS Sgt. Roger Bernard.

All ramps from northbound and southbound Dallas North Tollway used to go east on the Bush Turnpike will remain closed through rush hours as crews clean up the debris.

The accident scene is near the location of a massive 7-alarm fire at the Gramercy at the Park Apartments on Nov. 23. The apartment fire was caused by an electrical short.
