Fatal Crash Closes Southbound SH360 Ramp to Eastbound SH183

Ramp reopens to traffic just after 6 a.m.

A fatal crash closed the ramp from southbound state Highway 360 to eastbound state Highway 183 early Friday morning.

Fort Worth police said the driver of a Chrysler sedan lost control of his car, left the roadway and traveled up an embankment where the car's roof was peeled away after the car hit a bridge.

Somewhere along the way, the car also collided with a Toyota sedan on the eastbound ramp.

A rear passenger in the Chrysler died at the scene and the driver was taken by air ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in critical condition.  A female passenger was not injured.

The driver of the Toyota sedan was not injured but was taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving.

Officials have not yet confirmed if alcohol played a factor in the crash or whether the person who died in the crash died from the first collision with the bridge or the second with the Toyota.

The names of those involved have not yet been released.

The ramp reopened just after 6 a.m.
