Those who drive along Interstate 20 in south Fort Worth should expect heavy traffic Tuesday evening.
Parts of east and westbound Interstate 20 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday.
The information below is from the Texas Department of Transportation.
I-20 will be closed to pour the concrete bridge deck for the new northbound state Highway 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway frontage road.
Eastbound motorists will exit at Bryant Irvin Road and follow the detour route and enter I-20 after Hulen Street. Westbound motorists will be detoured to the SH 183/Southwest Boulevard split to the frontage road, left across Insurance Lane to the I-20 westbound frontage road and then t o the Bryant Irvin Road entrance ramp.
Police will be posted at the intersections to facilitate the flow of both east and westbound traffic. Alternate routes for I-20 through traffic are Interstate 30 or North Loop 820. The Bryant Irvin Road bridge over I-20 will also be closed during construction to aid the detour.
The $117 million access improvement project at I-20/SH 183 is in preparation for the future SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway. The project will construct several new bridges, access ramps and new SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway frontage roads as well as lowering and rebuilding the SH 183 main lanes. Completion is scheduled for spring 2 013.
