Fatal Crash Closes Eastbound I-20 in East Fort Worth

A 72-year-old man was killed after his disabled vehicle was struck along Interstate 20 in southeast Fort Worth Saturday morning.

Officials confirmed the crash took place at about 8:55 a.m. on the 5700 block of eastbound I-20 where the highway split at East Loop 820 when an oncoming car struck a stopped, disabled motorist.

The disabled car flipped over and the occupant, 72-year-old Earl Cook, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The road was closed while crews investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
