Construction Project Closes U.S. 75 in Collin County

Drivers will want to avoid a major highway Friday night and Saturday in Collin County, as crews continue work to widen the highway.

U.S. Highway 75 is closed in both directions from Bloomdale Road to Melissa Road through early Saturday evening while the Texas Department of Transportation widens the overpass bridges in the area.

TxDOT is expanding U.S. 75 from four lanes to six lanes in both directions as part of a $60 million project that is due to be complete by October.

Overnight Friday, crews plan to install at least a dozen cement beams at the Telephone Road Bridge. There is a similar scene at the State Highway 121 direct connect.

Meanwhile, traffic is being rerouted to the frontage roads, and TxDOT is asking drivers to take State Highway 5 to avoid the area completely if possible.

U.S. 75 is scheduled to reopen Saturday at 8 p.m.
