Big Rig Hauling Corn Crashes, Snarls Monday Morning Traffic

An 18-wheeler flipped onto its side and spilled corn across a major Tarrant County highway before Monday morning rush hour.

The truck was heading north on interstate 820 when it crashed and flipped near the White Settlement Road exit at about 2:45 a.m., according to police.

The crash sent corn kernels spilling out into the opposite side of the highway, closing all southbound lanes well into the Monday morning rush. Traffic was diverted onto the service road.

The driver was not injured.

Police were investigating what caused the driver to lose control of the truck.

Officers said it wasn't clear when the highway might reopen Monday.
