2 Dead, 1 Seriously Wounded in Crash on NW Highway

Two people have died and a third person seriously wounded after their Mercedes crashed into a wall and caught fire in Dallas Monday night, police say.

According to police, a 1999 Mercedes SUV veered off the 12300 block of East Northwest Highway and crashed into a wall at about 9:30 p.m.

The vehicle burst into flames, trapping the driver and front passenger. Both were found deceased at the scene, police said.

A passenger in the rear was rescued by a good Samaritan and was taken to Parkland Hospital in critical condition.

Officers said the passenger, who was not identified, had fractures to both arms and legs and sustained 3rd and 4th-degree burns to 70 percent of his body. He was recovering in the Parkland burn unit, as of writing.

Police said the identities of the victims would be released pending notification of next of kin.
