Tow Truck Driver Dies in Crash on I-35E in Dallas

A 40-year-old man is dead and a 24-year-old woman in custody following a crash on Interstate 35E in Dallas Monday morning, deputies say.

Dominic Cook was driving a Ram Promaster tow truck southbound on I-35E near Empire Central when he collided with the back of a Nissan Altima sedan, according to a news release by the Dallas County Sheriff's Department.

The impact sent the sedan into the cement wall along the left shoulder, the release said. The tow truck crashed through a guard rail, down an embankment and into a tree in front of a Taco Bell.

Cook, 20, was pronounced deceased inside the vehicle.

Lopez was treated and released from Parkland Hospital before being arrested for an alleged probation violation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
