The Greatest Gift Catalog Ever

A group of Tarrant County Charities banded together to offer a gift program for that ‘hard to shop for’ recipient.

The Greatest Gift Catalog Ever offers a way to donate to 14 different charities.

Buyers of gift cards from the catalog get a tax deduction.  Recipients decide how to spend the gift donation to the 14 charities.

Elliot Goldman came up with the idea three years ago.

"We wanted to be able to give back to the community and we said wouldn’t it be great to have a shopping catalog just like a Lands End catalog where you can find worthwhile charitable projects. And my wife said why don’t you start one," Goldman said.

The Rocky Top Therapy Center in Keller is one of the charities.  It provides equine therapy that helps crippled people learn to use their frozen limbs by riding horses.

"It provides stability for them and helps to strengthen their core muscles," said Executive Director Pam Fleming.

Four-year-old Isaiah Sohn was born with Spina Bifida and his parents thought they might never see him walk.

"Within the past 3 weeks he has parked his walker and started walking independently," said his mother Coby Sohn. "He’s a walking miracle."

Fleming said The Greatest Gift Catalog Ever helps provide resources for patients like Isaiah Sohn.

"It’s doing something good.  It’s helping us create a miracle here," Fleming said.

Catalogs are available at Tarrant County banks and businesses, or online at www.thegreatestgiftcatalogever.org.
