City Chic for Under $100

Is it possible to pull together a cool-but-collected look for under $100? Maybe. Including a great bag and shoes? Sounds too good go be true, right? Wrong.

We searched far and wide for perfect pieces to create a city chic appeal -- edgy, eclectic, thrown together glamour that's wearable 24/7. To create the look we want to live in for Fall, we sourced this year's wardrobe staples like leggings, blazers, and statement bags for awesome prices.

The result was a slim, monochromatic look that was heavy on the right details -- hardware and draping -- and light on the price. We started with the new basics: a black, slouchy tee from Victoria's Secret for $19.50 (or 2 for$25) and a gorgeous pair of grey, super-skinny pants from the Gap for $19.99. Then we added a draped vest from Forever 21 at $19.80, a fringed bag by Miley Cyrus and Max Azaria for Walmart for $18, and platform booties from Pink Duchess for KMart.

Brands like Theory, Phillip Lim 3.1, and Rick Owens retail similar pieces for hundreds or thousands of dollars. A recent advertisement for Net-A-Porter's Fall collections featured a look like the one we put together, but their ensemble cost over $8,000. Yikes.

Total cost for our sophisticated, urban style? Only $97.28.

Check the online editions of all stores mentioned to find the goods for yourself. At the very least, snap up the Walmart-issue bag in grey or black (shown) before they're sold out. No one has to know Miley was involved; we won't tell.
