North Texans Start Shopping Early

North Texas shoppers were civil, no reports of shopper scuffles

North Texas shoppers were up early to take full advantage of Black Friday deals at malls and stores across Dallas-Fort Worth.

There were about a thousand people waiting in line for discounts on electronics at the Best Buy off North Central Expressway in Dallas overnight.

While there have been Black Friday horror stories like the pepper spray incident in Los Angeles, North Texans showed they're more civil.

The first woman at the door had a walker and all the other shoppers gave her plenty of room to get into the store. The woman was so excited to be the first in the store she did a dance and the whole crowd cheered for her. (see video above)

Carol Davis stayed out of the cold and waited in her car with a plan of attack once Best Buy opened. "I think I'm going to save quite a bit. I've already got my plan that I'm going to get certain things, so I've prepared for today," said Davis.

Next door, parents packed Toys R Us to grab the season's hottest toys. Lego kits, educational tablet computer and Let's Rock Elmo were just some of the toys listed on the store's website as the must-have toys of the 2011 holiday shopping season.

Macy's opened at midnight, and a store representative at the Macy's at NorthPark Center said about 4,000 people were lined up outside when the doors opened.
