Grocery Prices Dropping

Competition heats up for customer biz

High prices at the grocery store are finally easing.

When the price of gasoline spiked last summer, so did grocery prices, but now, with expensive commodity contracts expiring, and consumer spending dropping, stores are looking for your business.

"It forces us to provide more value for our customer," said Kroger spokesman Gary Huddleston, "retail prices will continue to fall, somewhat," he added.

"That would be nice. We could use a break right now for sure," said shopper Cindy Hanson.

Store brands are also giving national brands a run for their money, meaning betters deals on store shelves.
