Newflower Farmer's Market opens new store in Dallas

While many businesses are cutting back, one national grocery chain is expanding its presence in the Dallas area.

Newflower Farmer's Market opened a second North Texas store in East Dallas, Wednesday. The company promises deals that are good for your body and your pocketbook.

"There's still a lot of interest in organics and green products and things like that," said founder and CEO Mik Gilliland. "People are trying to simplify, trying to eat healthier and save money at the same time."

Dallas resident Jennifer Ashford said her family tries to eat healthy, but admits natural foods are typically bad on the budget.

"Anything healthy is usually more expensive," Ashford said. "So, this should be really good and its really close to our house."

As concern over the economy grows, Gilliland said business is holding steady.

The restaurants are feeling it a little more," Gilliland said of the economy. "People are chosing to spend their money in the stores and entertain at home."

Newflower plans to open even more stores in North Texas in the future. The company opened up their first Sunflower Farmer's Market in Plano last year.
