Pantego Petition Pushes for Liquor Stores

Petition needs 344 signatures to get on May ballot

The town of Pantego is considering using liquor sales to increase revenue.

A petition is circulating around the town, started by former city manager Doug Davis, pushing for liquor stores to be allowed within town limits.  Pantego exists entirely within the city of Arlington, which does not allow liquor stores thoughout most of the city limits.

The Star-Telegram reports that the idea has the support of some of the Pantego town council.

The city must decide by March whether or not the petition has enough signatures, 344 according to the paper, to go on the May municipal election ballot.

The adjacent town of Dalworthington Gardens approved the sale of liquor in their town in 2009.
