Any Dallasite worth their margarita salt can tick off a couple dozen choices when it comes to happy hours with a Tex-Mex twist. But just how many of those same old spots boast homemade tequila to tempt the taste buds?  And how about an order of jumbo lump crabmeat nachos on the side?

Pro-wresting champion Cyclone Anaya founded his namesake restaurant some 40 years ago, along with his wife Carolina and a collection of heirloom family recipes.  The Houston-based favorite swept into Dallas last spring, and soon crowds were packing the Oak Lawn Avenue location for south-of-the-border favorites and some of the most memorable margaritas in town.  And did we mention the drop-dead gorgeous décor?  A second area outpost on Beltline Road near the Tollway followed last October.

Standards such as soft tacos, flautas and carne asada are served up in satisfying portions at Cyclone Anaya’s, and you can get a taste of the champ’s signature style by sampling the lobster enchiladas or spicy grilled salmon with mango habañero sauce.  And what better to pair with a little heavenly heat than a tall, frosty beverage?  Happy hour runs from 4-7 p.m. and includes $4 regular and $7 ‘ritas. But the delicious deals don’t stop there.  Weekend brunch features bottomless mimosas, and Cyclone’s $9 lunch combos leave enough wallet room for a little Tres leches  for dessert – sweet.
