Get Your Fat Ho On (It's a Burger)

Waco burger joint draws attention with name

This is either marketing genius or sexually offensive. Probably one then the other after the novelity wears off.

A burger joint recently opened in Waco under the appetizing name of Fat Ho Burgers. Yes, that kind of “ho,” best I can tell, judging by the movie title — “Phat Girlz” — that inspired owner Lakita Evans to come up with the business name.

Um, suppose Evans includes a menu choice called Skinny B**** burger for weight-conscious people? Wouldn’t be surprised. She does offer a single-patty burger called the Supa Fly Ho and a double called the Supa Dupa Fly Ho, and that one makes me laugh. Then again, Sloppy Ho brisket kind of makes me gag.

Anyway, the business opened Tuesday and by Wednesday had customers waiting in line for 30 minutes or more. The staff ran out of cash for change — odd, since it’s a cash-only establishment — and then ran out of beef.

A report filed by KWTX-TV (Channel 10) included comments from some satisfied customers and one gentleman, a city council member from nearby Hewitt, Texas, who polished off his lunch but said the joint would not be welcomed for expansion into his little burg because of the name.

Hmm, a Supa Dupa Fly Ho with a side of double standards.
