Gas Station Offers 5-Star Valentine's Day Dinner

If true love truly is unconditional then you shouldn't mind the conditions under which you and your significant other enjoy your Valentine's Day dinner of Braised Lamb Chops with Maryland Lump Crab Cakes smothered in Hollandaise sauce.

You may have to jockey for a parking spot between the Conoco gas pumps that grace the parking lot of the Chef Point Cafe in Watauga. And while there may be a candle burning at your table it likely has a Glade sticker attached somewhere in the glass jar that adorns it.

Of course you would need to save room to sink your teeth into the most mouth-watering bread pudding this side the the Pontchartrain (topped, of course, with that deliciously decadent Courvoisier sauce).

Somehow I have a feeling love will be in the air in the tiny 5-star cafe tucked so securely inside the Conoco Station. But as a diner said when I first reported on the Chef Point nearly 5 years ago, "I come here for the food not the atmosphere."

If you aren't sold just yet, owner Paula Merrill said a golf cart will be on hand to haul guests from a nearby parking lot direct to the gas station.

Here are some of the delicious delights being offered for Valentine's Day at Chef Point Cafe.
