DFW Again Makes Healthy Airport Food List

Score drops one percentage point from last year

Heading home this Christmas by way of DFW International Airport may be a little "sweeter" than last year.

That's because the airport's restaurants have dropped 1 percentage point in serving healthy food, as reported by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM)

The report found that, overall, healthy food choices in airports are harder to find this year than last, but they do exist.

In 15 percent of the nation's busiest airports, 83 percent offered at least one low-fat, high-fiber, cholesterol-free meal.

Leading the list of airports is Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport where all 59 restaurants offer at least one healthy meal. While DFW ranked 7th last year, it moved to 5th place, tying with Las Vegas McCarran International Airport with 83 percent of the restaurants providing healthy options.

Specifically, the study mentioned UrbanTaco's poblano, potato, and zucchini taco (minus the cheese)  as well as Ufood Grill's falafel wrap and three-bean chili as healthy options, but those aren't the only locations. Of the 99 restaurants surveyed, 82 provide at least one healthy option.
