Beer Joint Opens Along Katy Trail

‘Beer run’ takes on new meaning

Say goodbye to those delayed New Year’s resolutions.

The Katy Trail Ice House opens any day now — most likely tomorrow or Saturday — giving every exercise-slacker the perfect excuse for putting off that fitness regimen they swore they’d finally start this weekend.

The 7,000-square-foot beer joint sits right alongside the trail and beckons with the sirens’ song of frosty goodness to those tortured souls laboring to keep one foot moving ahead of the other. Barley-and-hops refreshment awaits mere steps away.

Fifty beer taps, a fired-up kitchen, and a dog-friendly patio have got to be more appealing than brain-dead running for miles on end. Kind of gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “beer run,” doesn’t it?

And, after meeting the guys for a few, men can look their wives right in the eye and honestly say, “No, sweetie, I’ve been out for a jog at Katy Trail.”

This also should cut down on the potential for jogger-cyclist collisions … until people leave the Ice House and hit the trail again.

But remember: Friends don’t let friends jog drunk. Stay at the bar.
