9/8: I Got The Blues

Strut for a cause while you listen to the blues

STRUT FOR A CAUSE: The trendy fashionistas and charity organizers in Dallas have rallied together to benefit the Kidney Texas 2010 luncheon and fashion show. This year’s line-up, “The Runway Report: Celebrating 10 Years of Giving with Style”. The event will showcase fashion by Stanley Korshak, while on the runway kidney donors and recipients, along with “real” hungry models will strut for a good cause. The charity is pricey at $150 a ticket, but all the proceeds will be donated to Kidney Texas to support the prevention and treatment of kidney disease. The glamorous day of cause-worthy couture begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Dallas. Click here for tickets.

I GOT THE BLUES: It will be raining all week, the perfect climate for whipping out a harmonica and gripping about the weather in song. Tonight, let it all out with blues greats at the AT&T Performing Arts Center as the 2010-2011 “Jazz Roots” season kicks off. Watch Grammy-winning blues marvels James Cotton “Super Harp” Blues Band and Shemekia Copeland as they take you to the roots of jazz – before the saxophones and gospel music, it all started with a harmonica on a rainy day. Show starts at 7:30 p.m.

WINEDOWN WEDNESDAY: Get over the mid-week hump with a sampling of the grapes greatest gift to mankind, actually several samples. Head to posh Charlie Palmer at The Joule Hotel in Dallas for a refined wine tasting session known around town as Next Vintage Wednesday. For $30, experience the flavor of sophisticated wine from all over the U.S. after a long day at the office. The tasting lasts from 5-7 p.m. and includes light appetizers, but reservations are mandatory, so call (214) 261-4600 and make it a night at The Joule ASAP.
