Now the weather seems to be cooling down you really don't have an excuse not to spend some time outside. And there is the perfect place here in Texas to get you into the fall spirit if you are willing to make the drive.
The Texas State Railroad Corn Maze is up and running just in time for fall and Halloween. Those with a sense of adventure can tackle the 10-acre maze near the community of Maydelle. This is the first year the Texas State Railroad has built the maze. “The corn maze will be a fun adventure for all ages, young and old”, said Lori Pennington, Marketing Manager
Now if you venture out to Maydelle, there is more to do than just wander around in the maze. Visitors can also climb hay bale mountain, take a hayride and you can ride the train from the Texas State Railroad Maydelle Depot to the corm maze. “We are very excited about this new addition to the railroad,” said Curtis Merchant, Roadmaster & Manager of the Corn Maze. “I have enjoyed planting and developing the maze and seeing everything come together.”
Tickets are $19 for ages 3 and over and not only lets you into the maze but also on the train, to and from the site, and all of the additional activities. If you have a sense of adventure you can wait until the end of the month to check out the haunted maze. An after dark adventure not for the faint at heart and those under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. (cost of haunted maze $25)

Now there is one more Halloween event you may be interested in. The Great Pumpkin Patch Express which actually leaves from the Rusk Depot. You can take a train ride to the great pumpkin patch and even meet Snoopy, pick out your own pumpkin and visit trick or treat street. This great pumpkin experience is October 3,8,9,10,29,30,31, 2010, Fridays and Sundays at 11:00am, Saturdays at 11:00am and 1:45pm. You can find out more on the great pumpkin ride here.
