Franz Ferdinand at House of Blues, 8 p.m.

If it wasn't for the waify Scots of Franz Ferdinand, the masses wouldn't have been touched by the wellspring of good music that is Glasgow. We've not bonded to the aloof dance-pop that put FF on the radio. But we keep in mind that this band formed where Belle and Sebastian,Mogwai, and a whole list of other innovative groups with cult followings in the U.S. started up years before Kate Moss went to a Franz Ferdinand show. 102.1 The Edge brings the band to Dallas tonight. See our Events listing for ticket info and directions.

VORTEXAS with Steadfast and Delegates of Soul at Rubber Gloves, 10 p.m.

Where is hip-hop in Denton? Follow VORTEXAS and they'll lead you right to the clique in the corner. The smart, rich sampling and tough beats they've got going on are more Jurassic Five than dirty South fare, and that savvy has them repping for Denton in the national press. VORTEXAS is active in their immediate community, having recently provided music for a UNT dance performance.

Man Man, The Boom Boom Box, and Giggle Party at The Lounge, 8 p.m.

We're big fans of funny around these parts, so when "40 Year Old Virgin" co-stars Martin Starr and Charlyne Yi join forces with SNL's Fred Armisten to be werewolves in love for Man Man's "Rabbit Habits" video, we have to listen up. (Sidenote: Werewolves in Love is an awesome name for your new band). Check out the video below, or do the right thing and check out the band at 8 p.m. in Dallas at The Lounge.
