What You're Doing This Weekend: 11/15-18

Turkey Day is a week away, but before you serve the bird, try serving up some strong singing and a free film.

THURSDAY, 11/15
One Week Until Turkey Day: It's just one week until Thanksgiving, so it's a pretty good idea to plan your menu, find a way to survive Turkey Day, and get ready for the onslaught of Black Friday shopping. Luckily, we have all that info stuffed into our "Turkeys and Deals" feature page. Give it a look before you put the bird in the oven.

FRIDAY, 11/16
"The Burbs" at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema: Your friendly neighborhood Scene editor posed the question "What's your favorite Tom Hanks movie?" on Facebook a while back and "The Burbs" was well represented. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema must have the same opinion, as they're holding a free screening of the flick (on 35mm film!) at their future home in Richardson. Roll into the corner of US-75 and Beltline around 5 p.m. to snag some beers from local breweries and food from area trucks. Movie starts at 7 p.m.

SATURDAY, 11/17
City Lights: Dallas' annual Holiday lighting display will flip the switch at 7 p.m. Saturday at Main Street Garden Park, then hold family-friendly festivities along Main Street in downtown Dallas through 10 p.m. Personally, we think it's a little too early to be lighting "holiday trees," but whatever...the kids will love it.

SUNDAY, 11/18
Mary J. Blige:  UPDATE: Blige's Sunday show has been postponed, according to the venue. A new date is still to be determined. Reason for the postponement were not immediately released.
