Pretty, Pampered Pups on Parade

Dog show takes over Dallas Market Hall

Want to see the full madness behind the method of televising a prim-and-proper dog show?

Well then, head over to Dallas Market Hall where the Lone Star State Classic dog show is taking place. It started at 8 Friday morning and continues until 5 p.m., so they’re just about up to halftime.

Check out the full schedule here and … sweet baby Buddha, check that about halftime; this thing runs through Sunday night.

Anyway, Larry Abbott, the cluster chairman of the Lone Star Classic, sent an e-mail message saying the National Dog Show broadcast on Thanksgiving is but an edited version of multiple events, and fans see the cleaned up segments. Hmm, imagine that, TV showing select clips.

The Dallas Market Hall show includes all the genuine live action before editors and producers can take out the gritty bits.

The show, um, showcases more than 2,000 dogs representing the best bioengineering of 150 breeds.
There’s bound to be some cabaret in there somewhere.
