Listed below are some of the events going on around North Texas on the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. If you know of an event that isn't listed, leave it in the comments below.
Dallas - Firefighters from across the Metroplex will suit up and climb the 110-story Renaissance Tower for the area's first stair climb to memorialize the 343 firefighters killed on Sept. 11. This event is not open to the public, though participating firefighters can bring guests.
Dallas - A concert, 9/11 Remembrance and Reconciliation, is being held at 7 p.m. at St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church on Douglas Avenue in Dallas. The concert, organized by the Arts District Chorale, is free and open to the public, though donations are being accepted on behalf of the Red Cross. Scheduled to perform are Aaron Copeland, Samuel Barber, David Conte and Ralph Vaughn Williams.
Dallas - DART bus and rail operators will make announcements at approximately 7:45 a.m. (when the first plane hit the World Trade Center in New York). The announcement will invite customers to observe a moment of remembrance to honor the victims and families of the 9/11 attacks. The operators will repeat this announcement at noon, Dallas time. Other transit agencies across the country are conducting similar events at the same time. Our operators will make the announcements while at a stop. DART Paratransit operators will sound their horns at noon.
Euless - The city of Euless is the latest North Texas city to take ownership of an artifact from the World Trade Center towers. The city will hold a public ceremony dedicating the piece Sunday morning. The city said a significant portion of the ceremony will occur at 7:46 a.m., the time Flight 11 crashed into the north face of Tower 1. Read more here.
Fort Worth - The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History will mark the anniversary of 9/11 with a special artifact from the World Trade Center. A beam 36 feet tall and weighing 6,500 pounds will be on display in the museum atrium during a special opening ceremony Sunday morning. Read more here.
Fort Worth - First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth is offering a Service of Hope, featuring Howard Goodall's new work, "Eternal Light" - a requiem for the living at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Fort Worth - The Arlington Master Chorale joins the University Christian Chuch Chancel Choir with a full orchestra for a concert on the 10th Anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The concert is free and features Adagio (Barber), The Prayer of the Children (Bestor), Ubi Caritas (Durufle), Son for Athene (Tavener), In Remembrance (Ames), Memorial (Clausen), and Let Peace Then Still The Strife (Wilberg). The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at the UCC at 2720 S. University Drive in Fort Worth.
Fort Worth - The Cowtown Motorcycle Meetup Group will be having a commemorative ride beginning at the Albertson's located at 8510 state Hwy 377 S in Fort Worth and ending at the 9/11 Flight Crew Memorial in Grapevine at 1000 Texan Trail. Approximately 50 bikes (as of Thursday) will be participating. Bikes will be gathering starting at approx. at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 11 and will be KSU (kick stands up) at 9:30 a.m. Anyone is welcome to ride.
Irving - Honor the heroes of 9/11 with a performance by the Irving Symphonic Band and record your own memories of the day with Irving Archives Oral History Collection. Event takes place at the Irving Central Public Library at 2 p.m.
Watauga - Watauga will install a beam from the WTC at their newest fire station during a ceremony Sunday night at 7:40 p.m. Read more here.

The 10th anniversary falls on a Sunday, which also happens to be the first day of the NFL's regular season. America's Team, the Dallas Cowboys, are traveling to New York City to play the Jets to kickoff the regular season. Before all games Sunday, the NFL will conduct ceremonies to recognize those who have lost their lives either on Sept. 11, or in the events and wars that followed. Later in the Day, the Baltimore Ravens will host the Pittsburgh Steelers -- each team is located about 80 miles from Shanksville, Pa., where Flight 93 crashed into a field. Finally, the Sunday night game will be between the New York Giants and Washington Redskins in Andover, MD., not far from the Pentagon. Additionally, the league and NFL Players Association are donating $1 million to three memorials and two charities that have to do with Sept. 11. According to the Wall Street Journal, "they will contribute $500,000 to the 9/11 Museum & Memorial in Manhattan, and $250,000 to be divided between the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, and the Pentagon Memorial Fund in Washington. The league and union also will donate all proceeds from the sale of auction items from Sept. 11 games to Tuesday's Children and MyGoodDeed."
