Jimmy Buffett to Play Gexa in April

Parrotheads to party in Fair Park

Talk about your "Changes in Latitudes" -- Parrotheads won't be heading to Frisco for the annual tailgate and concert at FC Dallas Stadium (formerly Pizza Hut Park).

Instead, Jimmy Buffett will hold his concert at Gexa Energy Pavilion (formerly Superpages.com Center, Coca-Cola Starplex, et al) on April 19, 2012, according to a press release from LiveNation.

"Margaritaville" fans often spoke of the Frisco show as one of the best tailgating opportunities on the singer's U.S. tour. In fact, we'd see folks showing up a day ahead of the concert to stake out a good spot to party.

The venue change is only part of the adjustment for Parrotheads -- the concert is now set on a Thursday night instead of the traditional Saturday.

Luckily for RV-driving, "Cheeseburger in Paradise"-eating fans, PegasusNews found out the Gexa organizers will allow recreational vehicles in for a fee starting at noon on the concert day.

Tickets for the concert go on sale Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. Tickets range from $36.50 to $136.50.

Frisco businesses and local Parrotheads we talked to are obviously disappointed in the change.

"I was hoping it was going to be a tradition," said Robert Ojeda, who tailgated for the show for the past few years.

"It's horrible, very sad," Karla Cristelli agreed. "Every year, we get together to go to his concert. We get together with a lot of friends for tailgating."
