Christina Aguilera to Sing National Anthem at SBXLV

ESPN, USA Today and thousands of Twitter users are all, well, atwitter, that Christina Aguilera has been tapped to sing the national anthem at Super Bowl XLV.

The five-time Grammy winning singer-songwriter and actress will be part of the pregame show which will be televised worldwide.

โ€œI have been performing the anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true,โ€ Aguilera said. โ€œI am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.โ€

The NFL was slow to confirm the news, but confirm they eventually did after a host of gossip sites, such as Gossip Cop, whoever that is, spilled the beans.  So, there you go.  It's a hot rumor, now confirmed.

Aguilera last took part in Super Bowl XXXIV in Atlanta where she performed the half-time show.  This year, that honor goes to Grammy award winning hip hop stars, the Black Eyed Peas.  Three-time Grammy winner Keith Urban will kick off the pre-game festivities at Cowboys Stadium prior to kickoff.

The Super Bowl is Feb. 6 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
