9/21: Cooler Than Yoga

Mike Posner storms HOB, Plano's got cowboy karaoke, and the Galleria goes Zen.

THE COOL KID IN TOWN BROUGHT SOME FRIENDS: Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or don’t listen to the radio) than you’ve heard the lyrics to “Cooler Than Me” resonate through the speakers and stay in your head for hours on end. Well, you have pop music maker Mike Posner to blame for that. The singer-songwriter’s first studio album “31 Minutes to Takeoff” was just released on Aug. 16 and has already reached no. 8 on U.S. charts. Today Posner visits House of Blues Dallas headlining the Karmaloop.com “Up In The Air Tour” with special guests Far East Movement, Stephen Jerzak, 2AM Club, Bad Rabbits and XV. Cool guy Mike and his peeps will be starting the show at 7 p.m.

DOWN HOME COUNTRY SINGING: Channel your inner Willie Nelson and let your pipes do all the work. If you haven’t had your karaoke fix in a while or just want to let loose on a weekday, head to the Last Chance Saloon and Restaurant tonight in Downtown Plano. It’s a wee bit of a hike outside of Dallas, but worth the drive. Every Tuesday the Last Chance holds country karaoke night for the guitar-player within all Texans. Sing a ditty and chug on some beer - bonus, ladies get to enjoy a few drinks at half the price (probably to distract from all the shrieking on stage). The country karaoke idol begins at 8 p.m.

TIME TO STRETCH IN THE MALL: Enjoy a complimentary evening of relaxation while harnessing your chi and balancing your chakra – in the mall. Lululemon Athletica in the Dallas Galleria will be hosting Zen Lemmon, a free yoga class taught by Michael McKowen from the MAT Yoga Studio. The yoga session is open to all levels and is held every week at 6 p.m. for one hour inside the store. Unwind tonight and feel zen-sational come Wednesday morning.
