9/17: Make Way For The Tallest Man

LOOKOUT – TALLEST MAN IN TOWN: Myth. Legend. Ripley’s Believe It Or Not featured exhibit. Regardless of where you may have seen, heard or even imagined what the tallest man on earth really looks like, we know exactly where you can catch a glimpse of him tonight – or at least the band known as The Tallest Man on Earth. Gotcha! Tonight catch the Swedish cool guy Kristian Matsson playin’ acoustic, banjo-infused folk music at the House of Blues Dallas at 8 p.m. with special guest S. Carey.

POETRY IN MOTION: In continuation with the piñata-bursting celebrations for Mexico’s Independence Day and National Hispanic Heritage month, the Dallas Museum of Art brings poet Homero Aridjis. The lecture event is collaboration between the DMA and Center for Translation Studies at UT Dallas. The literary splendor of Aridjis’s poems range from the political to environmental and even explores Mexican culture. The prose, the pentameter, the literary accomplishments of one of Latin America’s well-renowned writers will be celebrated tonight at 9 p.m. in the Horchow Auditorium.  A book signing will immediately follow the lecture.

LIGHTS OUT AT THE ZOO: Get up close and personal with zoo life at night – under supervision of course. Bring the whole family to the Dallas Zoo for a night of animal discovery and sight-seeing on a “Twilight Safari.” The Dallas Zoo will host an evening of tours, activities, and special talks for the whole family. Now that the temps are slowly declining, the Dallas Zoo invites animal lovers (not literally) to see what goes on after dark. Registration is required for the late night safaris from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Click here to reserve your spot.
