9/11: Funk, Fashion, and French Lit

ATOMIC DAWG: Fort Worth's Camp Bowie District lights up as George Clinton brings the P-Funk to the first night of Jazz By the Boulevard. All you need to get down is five bucks, a blanket, and an umbrella -- this party's happenin' rain or shine, organizers assert. Josh Weathers band starts at 5:30PM, GC's on at 8PM.

DEVIL WEARS PARKERHAWN: High five to this week's Five Rules expert Pam Scrima for Parkerhawn Vintage's part in the Fashion on Film watch party, where Vogue-heads can tackle The September Issue on it's opening night (onscreen at the Angelika Dallas, and for the winner of a drawing, in the pages of a bona fide copy of the 5-pound issue of the magazine from 2007 that spawned the film.) Tickets come with a $10 gift certificate to the shop. 7:30PM.

BEDTIME STORY: For a low key Friday night, be transported to an apartment building in Paris where the two world-weary thinkers in Muriel Barbery's satire The Elegance of the Hedgehog wax philosophical. You'll check out this New York Times review before you make it out to Kimbell Art Museum's Artful Readings series, if you have anything in common with Barbery's characters. 5:30PM.
