8/21: New Bar, New Tunes, New Cows

RODEO ROW: The folks behind Bandera, a new pub on Greenville Ave., have stories as tough as the red dirt theme they're going for. Co-owner Anthony West is a former pro bull rider; manager Ben Verdooren is back in the saddle after his ambitious gastro-pub Zymology shuttered last month (for more, see Lisa Petty's post at the Dallas Observer's City of Ate blog.) The new bar celebrates its official Grand Opening tonight with Finding Shade and a live broadcast from 102.1 The Edge. No cover, 5PM.

ECHOES ACROSS TOWN: Fort Worth is all about Telegraph Canyon tonight. And if you dig Arcade Fire, the banjo, or musicians who collaborate spontaneously with homeless dudes, you should be too. TC opens for the Old 97s at Bass Hall and then hops over to Lola's where a listening party for their anticipated sophomore album will be in full swing, with RTB2, Eaton Lake Tonics, and Matthew Gray, Delves Into the Humanity Pools on the bill. Bass Hall show starts at 8PM; listening party at Lola's begins at 10PM with no cover for Bass Hall ticket stub holders.

SPACE COWBOYS: There's a football game tonight inside the domed future-city that is the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. We'll admit it -- we were kind of bummed to remember that's what it was built for. Romo did just dump Jessica Simpson, though, so we hope he'll be doing what he needs to do on the whale of a stage where he needs to do it for fans who've counted down to the preseason debut versus the Tennessee Titans. 7PM.
