7/8: It's A High Brow Trifecta

No matter which direction you go in tonight, they all lead uphill

WHAT DREAMS MAY COME FULL CIRCLE: I think at this point we all have heard of Dreamgirls. The award-winning stage play was turned into an award-winning movie that was printed into a book with Beyonce on the cover, which is now being given away by the likes of Jenny Owens Young on sites like Kickstarter. Thank your lucky stars that things eventually come full circle. Dreamgirls, the musical plays at Fair Park Music Hall tonight at 8PM.

HEAVY METAL: If you're in Denton from 12PM to 5PM today, stop by and check out the "Different Tempers" Art Exhibit at the UNT Art Gallery. Exhibit explores the distinctions and commonalities between jewelry and blacksmithing with 40 objects by 14 national artists. Metals used include gold, platinum, fine and sterling silver, pewter, iron, and stainless and mild steel, as well as optical lenses, nail polish and hair. Organized by The Center for Craft, Creativity and Design, a University of North Carolina regional center and curated by Suzanne Ramljak, editor of Metalsmith magazine.

IT"S ALL BOWING UP: If sculpture and university life are a little too low-brow for you, then you should definitely check out the Mimir Chamber Music Festival at the TCU Walsh Center For The Performing Arts. The festival features outstanding artists from the world’s leading orchestras and music schools. Exceptional guest artists this year include members of the Chicago Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra, winners of the Van Cliburn and Leeds International Piano Competitions, and other internationally acclaimed musicians.
